Background Information:Eric Hamblen is the co-founder and Program Director of PACE, Inc. and PACE Place. Eric has been working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) since 1985 in both private and public settings. Eric worked at the UCLA Clinic for the Behavioral Treatment of Children under the direction of Dr. Ivar Lovaas. Eric completed the RDI Certification under Dr. Steve Gutstein (Certified RDITM Consultant, 2003-2006). Eric has provided consultations and training to families and professionals all over the world and has presented at international seminars. Eric’s passion is combining social learning with the outdoors. Eric enjoys facilitating recreational adventures for children and their families such as camping, backpacking, and experiencing challenge courses. Eric enjoys helping families think through their challenges and together find dynamic solutions.

Eric has over 30 years of experience working with individuals with children and their families. With experience and training in a variety of methodologies, he has a unique perspective on how to successfully guide families within their typical daily activities (e.g., grocery shopping, mealtime, homework, transitions). Eric helps families think through their challenges and together find dynamic solutions. He focuses on fostering emotional development to improve the child’s ability to organize social information, develop meaningful relationships, and remediate the core deficits associated with social learning challenges. He will discuss strategies that can be used at home, in the school, and in the community, helping the child and adult gain competence in all environments.

Eric developed AT EASE® to help guide parents and professionals to create experiences that support healthy patterns of engagement. Because emotions drive behavior, Eric will present information on how to understand challenging behaviors through the filter of emotional regulation. Through AT EASE® a relational approach is emphasized to develop emotional regulation capacity within the family and support systems. As individuals with social learning challenges develop a healthier relational foundation, they demonstrate an increased capacity to regulate their emotional experiences, leading to increased success in all learning environments and a higher quality of life for the entire family.
